The Southwest Missouri Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) will hold a Public Relations Boot Camp workshop on Friday, July 13 for individuals wanting to build or improve their public relations skills. This one-day event will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., at the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, 202 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
The Public Relations Boot Camp is designed to help people who want to learn or brush up on tools to promote their business or organization, whether it’s a small business, non-profit, church or public office. The event includes four sessions presented by area public relations professionals and current and former members of the news media. The sessions include:
· The power of words: What you say is more important than where you say it.

News professionals from local print, radio and television outlets will tell you what makes a good news story and how and when to contact them with news.
